A Nature Lover – Protector of the Environment
Today was a very important day for
Michael — it was his wedding anniversary.
Seven years ago, on June 30th, he married Catherine. Since that day, his life
changed completely. He found a loving partner who truly cared for him, and
together they built a happy life.
Two years after their marriage, they
became parents to twins — a baby girl and a baby boy. The arrival of their
children filled Michael and Catherine’s life with joy and colour.
Now, Michael celebrates his anniversary
every year, but this time, the plan was different. He decided to celebrate it away
from the city, in the mountain ranges surrounded by beautiful
natural sights.
Michael has always been passionate about
nature. During his college days, he often planned trips to natural spots
because the adventure of the wild gave him a unique thrill.
But even in his joy, he remains conscious of protecting nature.
He makes sure not to do anything that
could harm the environment. He uses eco-friendly fuel for his
car that emits less carbon, and he often prefers using a bicycle
for traveling.
To make their anniversary unforgettable,
Michael had been preparing for the last five days. He kept the entire plan a
secret from Catherine because he wanted to give her a big surprise.
Now, the special day had finally arrived.
Michael woke up early in the morning—much earlier than usual. He gently woke
Catherine too, but her face showed confusion. It was clear she was wondering
why he was up so early.
This was not their daily routine.
But Michael noticed the unspoken questions on her face and, to avoid suspicion,
he smiled and said,
“Catherine, I just got an urgent call from the
office. I need to step out for a bit.”
"Okay, wait, I'll make
breakfast," Catherine
replied.
"No need, Catherine," Michael said. "I'll be back in half an
hour. Meanwhile, you and the kids should get ready — we’re going out of
town."
"Out of town?" Catherine asked with a happy smile.
"Where?"
"That’s a surprise," Michael replied, smiling.
Catherine stared at Michael and asked, "What
surprise?"
Michael smiled and said, "Be
patient. You’ll know everything soon. Just get ready quickly."
"Okay," Catherine replied, though her mind was filled with
curiosity about the surprise.
But she knew Michael well. It was his old
habit — if he decided to keep something a secret, no one could make him reveal
it. So, Catherine stopped trying to guess and got involved in the preparations.
After one hour, Michael entered the house.
"Where were you? What kept you
so busy?" Catherine
asked as soon as she saw him. "I'm ready."
But Catherine noticed something different
about Michael’s face — he didn’t look as cheerful as he did in the morning.
"What happened? Is everything
okay?" she asked with
concern.
Michael took a deep breath and replied,
"I’m sorry, Catherine... our plan has
changed. We’ll celebrate our anniversary the usual way, just like every
year."
"Why? What happened?" Catherine asked, surprised and a little disappointed.
Actually, about 150 km away, there
is a mountain range with lakes, waterfalls, and beautiful natural sites. The
forested region adds to the scenic beauty. Earlier, people were unaware of this
hidden gem, but now it is well known. The area has been developed with
beautiful restaurants and other modern facilities.
Catherine nodded her head.
Then Michael said,
"It only opens for two
days in the entire year, and today is the last day. That’s why there’s a huge
crowd trying to book their tickets through tour agents. Only a fixed number of
people are allowed for safety reasons."
"Okay, but Michael, I thought you had
arranged everything since it was your surprise. So what happened now? Why did
you change your mind?" Catherine asked
with annoyance.
"Actually, after I woke you up,
I went to the tour agent to collect our tickets. But there, I met a young man
named Arman and his friend," Michael explained.
"Who is Arman?" Catherine asked with curiosity and surprise.
"He is an environmental science
student, and he also went there for his project and research work. Actually,
he’s not just a student of environmental science — he’s a true nature lover. He
doesn’t support those who harm the environment through their careless
activities. He said he wants to protect nature from people who unknowingly
damage it, and even more from those who know the harm but still don’t
care."
"I remembered my college
days," Michael continued.
"Back then, I participated in an
environmental project with great energy and passion. Since then, I've always
loved nature and would do anything to protect it.
I saw the same
intention in Arman. But the problem was — he didn’t have a pass to go to the
restricted area. And if he missed it, he would have to wait an entire year for
the next chance.
Michael paused for a moment, then
said softly,
"So, I gave our passes
to Arman and his friend. After talking to him, I realized his research could
benefit not only the environment but all of humanity."
"Michael, you made the right
decision," Catherine said happily and
with pride.
"Because of our mistakes
and carelessness towards environmental issues, the entire climate of the Earth
is changing. Temperatures are rising rapidly, animals are facing extinction,
storms have become more common, forests are burning, and glaciers are melting.
The whole natural system is being disrupted."
"That’s why it’s necessary to encourage
people who work to protect the environment,"
Catherine said. "And
Michael, I want to tell you something—I'm also a nature lover,"
she added with a smile.
Thank you, Catherine, for supporting and
understanding a nature lover," Michael said happily. "Now,
let's go celebrate our anniversary!"
