The bird on the wall

One evening, around six o’clock, a bird let out a loud cry and landed on the wall in front of my house. I wasn’t sure why it made that sound, but I watched it curiously.

In front of my house, there is a small garden filled with different kinds of plants. On the garden wall, birds often come to rest. I’ve placed a bowl of food and a pot of water there to welcome them. After eating and drinking, the birds usually sing cheerful songs. It feelsas if they are expressing their happiness and gratitude.

But that evening, when I looked at the wall, I noticed there was no food or water left. Wondering why the bird had cried out, I checked the temperature—it had crossed 45 degrees. It was an extremely hot day.

I whispered to myself and realized that the bird must be suffering from the heat. I could feel its pain.

I hurried to refill the bowl with fresh food and the pot with cool water. After eating and drinking, the bird flew away, letting out a soft sound, as if singing a gentle song. I watched it with quiet happiness

After some time, the bird returned and sat on the wall once again. I looked at it with a smile and softly said, “I’m sorry.”
