The Boy and the Moon – A Story of True Beauty

One warm summer night, a boy sat quietly in front of his small home, built from branches, dry leaves, and plant waste. The air was still, and the stars shimmered above him. Though his surroundings were poor, his heart was full of quiet thoughts.

Suddenly, the boy looked up at the moon and whispered to himself:
"The moon is so bright and beautiful... but I’m dark. I’m ugly."
Tears welled up in his eyes as he began to cry. From high above, the gentle moon noticed the boy's sorrow and softly called out:

"Dear boy..."

Startled by the voice, the boy ran inside. But the moon’s kind words followed him:
"Dear boy, please stop."

He paused. Slowly, he turned around and looked at the moon with wide, tearful eyes.

The moon asked,
"Why were you crying, dear boy?"

The boy replied with a trembling voice,
"You are beautiful… but I’m not. I’m just an ugly boy."

The moon smiled warmly and said,
"My dear child, it is not my beauty that matters—it is my quality. My gentle, white light chases away the darkness. Because of me, strangers find their path in the night and reach home safely."

"That is what makes me beautiful."

"If you want to be truly beautiful, then be kind, helpful, and good to others. Let your character shine. When you bring light to someone’s life, you’ll become more handsome than even me."

The boy looked up at the moon with wonder in his eyes, and for the first time, he smiled through his tears.
